~~Parents Don't UnderStand...~~

So, like, today, we had this 'graduation lunch' thingy in my school canteen. As I thought, it sucks like hell. School food is one of the worst things in the entire universe, yes, I meant the milky way.

Today, I saw HER singing on stage. She was good, real good. I'm nothing compared to her. SHE was the reason why I lie on my bed, crying, doubting that I'll ever fulfill my longtime dream. I told my mum about it, guess what she said...

" You always compare yourself with other people just over all these stupid things. Why don't you learn to compare yourself in your studies? Stop dreaming already! This is reality."

It was heartbreaking to hear that. I felt stupid, hopeless. Why can't parents just understand that I want to make my dream a career out of it?! Why don't they just be supportive, like any other parent would be? Nooo...I'm stuck with them! I'm sick of it! BLEH!

I just hope everything will be alright after today

Pen off,
LeAnn

Hey, girl! Why do you think she's so good?! Don't give up on your dream just because someone's better than you! If you practice everyday I'm sure you'll be better than her one day. Work hard to fulfill you dream! If you really want to do it, just stick to your way of life and never turn back! Don't care what people say! Remember, your inner rock star is hiding in you, waiting for YOU to unleash it. ROCK ON!

Remember, I'll support you in whatever you do. =)

Dear Le Ann,

This is the Ghost in your machine and the nihilistic conscience of your blog.

First of all, allow me to say that the Milky Way is not the universe. It is a galaxy IN the universe. There are other various galaxies out there, among some are Andromeda, M51 and the famous Alpha Centauri (I kid, that is a star, but a very iconic one at that).

So when you say" the entire universe, yes, I meant the milky way," it practically contrasts itself in an unintentional paradox. I tried to see it out of context, but then I realised that it didn't make much sense IN context either.

Second, about your parents. I understand your situation, it is called 'Adolescence.' I did an examination study on it, and it involves the most rudimentary of neuro-hormones. I recommend you go read up on Rob Thompson, but I digress.

True that we are in the stage that we rebel against our parents, but forgive me for being cliched when I say, 'Listen to your parents.' I know what you're going to say, "My parents don't understand, my parents never went through this, my parents don't share my dream.' I have had the same thoughts before, as have your parents. Everyone goes through this, and you're not alone.

I digest the advice of your mother and find a plethora of wisdom. Your mother loves you, she wants the best from you, and kindly think to yourself how you repay her. If you won't listen to discerning, then maybe you will listen to facts.

It is a generally-accepted notion that masters of performing arts have a financially unstable career compared to those in the intellectual field who are always in constant demand. The worst of doctors make tenfolds more money than say, Amy Winehouse, Taylor Swift, or the singing idols kids like you listen to.

Le Ann, you have to understand that your mother is NOT discouraging you from singing. By all means, she'll be more than glad to let you pursue it as long as you ensure a bright future for yourself by creating an intellectual foundation, not one based one empirical knowledge.

Please, Le Ann, I implore you, forgive your mother in your heart, and honour her so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God has given to you.

The ghost in your machine.

Good tidings and well met to all who are present.

To LeAnn:

I am afraid that your mother is more of a pragmatist than an idealist, your grades will be far more important than your dreams when you enter mainstream society. Simple mathematics should show you exactly how difficult it is to become a "star" (By this I mean the ratio of "stars" to "wannabe stars")

While your mother could be rather more supportive, the way she suggests is infinitely less risky than betting 60 years of life on singing alone.

To: Metal Gear.

I say, that was rather sanctimonious. And flawed.

Your comment, while bombastic and demonstrative of grammatical knowledge, is woefully deficient in content. You need not pepper your speech and comments with words that make you sound like a cryptic wizened fountain of wisdom.

Most unfortunately, you appear to have erred in several manners, primarily grammatical and factual. Of these I shall only list the factual errors and recommend a session with the English teacher for the rest.

Factual errors:
1. Nihilistic conscience: It is impossible to be nihilistic and have a conscience at the same time.

2. Alpha Centauri happens to be a star system containing two of the "iconic star"s you mention, Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B.

3. Your third paragraph makes no sense at all when the last sentence is viewed. You appear to be denying that it makes sense in context and by proxy out of context as well. This is a fundamental failure of logic.

4. The "Adolescence" you speak of happens to be innocent, the culprit is "puberty" and "hormones".

5. In your sentence you imply that there are several types of neurohormones, some of which are more "advanced", I am afraid that all the neurohormones are present in everyone.

6. Pardon me, but I do believe that a year 8 science handbook is not the best source for learning about biology.

7. It was also a known fact that swords weighed hundreds of pounds each. Do state your sources.

8. It is impossible to master performing arts, and if you mean receiving a "Masters" then perhaps it makes sense.

9. Taylor Swift is worth over 1 million USD, that happens to mean that a doctor would have to earn 40,000 USD a month to have an equivalent net worth. And since doctors require an extra 2 million USD to take the university course, I highly doubt your statement.

10. There is no god. ('Tis true, I'm an atheist.)

One last thing:
I speak as the brother of a certain ball of hellfire, fur, claws and teeth.

Min Xian brother. Yay. Anyway, You need not pepper your speech and comments with words that make you sound like a cryptic wizened fountain of wisdom.
How ironic.

A bit too obvious.

O. Well, he is 3 years older than you, Jared. Anyway, maybe they should be friends Min Xian. Lol.
" Very factual, well put together." That's what my brother said.
